Finn loves Blair. Blair loves Finn too, but he’s not *in love* with him. How can you be in love with someone you’ve known your entire life? Shouldn’t *in love* feel...different? Newer. Bigger. More…exciting?

Sure, maybe Blair is too romantic—but wasn’t Finn the one who always said there were plenty of fish in the sea?

Plenty of Fish edition by Josh Lanyon Literature Fiction eBooks

Blair is a romantic...he is seeking LOVE diligently and having an amazing unlucky streak in his attempts to find Mr. Romance.
Finn, his old friend from childhood, has been distant lately...ever since that drunken moment last year.
This is a recommended very short story by Josh Lanyon. Smoothly written, carefully edited, evoking the ache of love all hopeful yet fatalistic. An mm romance with a dash of adventure. Old friends finding themselves anew...The story seems longer because of all the history between the two MCs.
There is explicit mm sex, and some nice teeny snippets of context (work and family) but it is a lite and sweet snack, overall.

If you like mm old school friends becoming new lovers, I recommend

Plenty of Fish edition by Josh Lanyon Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I enjoy josh layons books , have them all I think k. This was wonderful story of old friends discovering their also soul mates. Well written, beautifully detailed , and always heart touching .
I didn't like either Blair or Finn until they went diving, and by then half the book was done. It was on its way to a two-star rating and then bang-zoom! Short and not so sweet until the last part.
Everything Josh writes is good, but her novels are more compelling than her short stories. "Fish" is appealing and the guys are lovable, but it's too short and doesn't give the reader time to invest in their lives. However, since it's Josh by gosh, and if you love Josh like I do it's worth the time.
Such a disappointment from an author who's written so much great stuff! The usual chemistry between the characters was missing altogether, the heartache was missing, the interesting conversations weren't there and the HEA was matter of fact and not particularly satisfying. Also, for such a short story there were way too many pages with boring descriptions of their surroundings while diving -- this was surprising because usually Lanyon's descriptions take you right to the location and make it feel real. Not the case here at all; it was all sort of matter of fact and if lifted out of the story would not have been missed. In short, this was an uninspired short story and not up to Lanyon's usual work.
I thoroughly enjoyed this breathtaking, lobster-tasting snack from Josh Lanyon. It left me with determination to savor the small, happy moments of my ordinary, everyday life. To quote Finn "---what made a day like this so special was that there wasn't an endless supply of them." Ain't that the truth. And yes, often the best things in life are right in front of us. Thank you for reminding me of that, Josh Lanyon.
"Sweet" and "romance" are the key words in this short story. However what made it distinct was how Finn and Blair perceived their relationship and each other. It was realistic and quite interesting to read, i.e. the most important event that defined their friendship was different for each of them and that defined their feelings and thoughts.

But (course there's butt) the diving tidbits were pretty boring (not that diving is boring, just the presentation of it in story), and I think the moment of tension was unnecesary for them to become something more than friends. The same effect on Blair could have an awesome day and moment to think about why it was that good. Also, imho lack of Finns pov at the end was unsatisfying. His perspective was presented first and I liked him more than Blair. But that's highly subjective I think.

Good read, but easily forgetable.
What a delicious little novella from one of my absolute favorite goto authors! Josh Lanyon's Plenty of Fish is a wonderful tale of friendship, discovery, realization, and love. Finn and Blair have been besties nearly forever, they've seen good times and bad, they've supported each other, and they've also let go a couple of times of what wasn't meant to be(or so they thought). There's been some distance between them and neither are happy about it so when the opportunity to get back to what they had surfaces they jump at it. After all, as Finn says ". . . what made a day like this so special was that there wasn't an endless supply of them" those are the days we realize what is really important in life. I don't want to give any spoilers away so I'll just say that when a story, short or long, makes you appreciate life as well as entertain the bones off you, well you found a winner.
