A writer whose wife has been missing for eight months encounters a familiar old woman with an odd request — a request that will introduce him to a surprising evil.

SPOOKY NOOK is a 10,000-word “prequel of sorts” to THE CALLING, a supernatural thriller by Robert Swartwood.

Spooky Nook eBook Robert Swartwood

Although a prequel, this is very much a stand-alone novella. It is tightly written and does not leave the reader hanging. The rest of the digital space is filled with the beginning of The Calling.

As far as Spooky Nook goes, it was a fun read. Not spooky or scary as the title would lead you to believe. Simply some paranormal happenings. Fast, fun read.

Spooky Nook eBook Robert Swartwood Reviews

Very good short story thriller! Keeps you guessing till the end. Highly recommend.
Well written thriller with an Hint of spooky supernatural thrown in!! Awesome quick read!! Definitely going to be reading more by this author!!!!
A great story. Fast pace. Surprises. Quite enjoyable and gets the heart pumping
This was a fast moving fun enjoyable read. Lots of twists and turns. Truly pleasureable on a Saturday Afternoon with a cup of tea! Not too scary and not gory so it appeals to those with weaker constitutions.
Robert Swartwood is a great storyteller. He never disappoints. All of his books are "sit on the edge of your seat." I highly recommend you read him!
If you read The Calling you should go back and read this, and if you haven't read The Calling read Spooky Nook first. This is a suspenseful tale that will stick in your head throughout the day until you can pick up the story again at night. It leads right into The Calling which will also chill you to the core and leave you in deep thoughts and possibly restless dreams.
I confess that right at first, things were moving a little slowly for me, but since this is really a short story I knew I should hang in there beyond the first two pages! I'm so glad I did; wow, the story picks up and takes you on quite a ride...and keeps you guessing right up to the end. Loved it. I highly recommend this if you're like me and are unfamiliar with Swartwood. I know now that I'd like to read something a bit longer of his and will certainly pick up one of his novels.
